How to Bounce Back from CEO Burnout

How to Bounce Back From CEO Burnout

Is this you: every time you get a chance to step up to the plate and show off your CEO hat, you only think of how EXHAUSTED you'll be? 😭 I hate to break it to you, but you've entered burnout territory. Don't worry, it happens to all of us, but the game-changer is how quickly you can recognize you're in that space and can bounce back! So, how do we defeat burnout as CEOs? Here are my top tips!

  1. Take a step back

    • I find that when I am struggling from burnout, it is usually because I have overcommitted myself. Even though we want to believe we are super women and can do it all. The fact of the matter is, we can’t. So the first step to recovery, is to take a deep breath and to be willing to remove something from your plate. By either saying no to something/someone or delegating tasks to someone else. And NOT FEELING BAD ABOUT THAT DECISION!

  2. Block out personal time

    • Another reason I feel my tank starting to empty is when I have not set strict boundaries with my personal time. Being a business owner requires a lot of non-stop work. But it is so so important that you physically work it into your schedule, to have time either by yourself, with your family, or with your friends on a regular basis. Making time for the things that fill your cup, allow you to have the energy to accomplish great things in your work life.

  3. Make a list of what you’ve accomplished

    • I find that when I am feeling defeated, it helps to make a physical list of all the things I have accomplished that day. No matter how small they are! Some days, that list may just be getting up at a decent time and taking a shower. Other days, it may be longer and more work related. But celebrate what you can and give yourself credit. This will give you more motivation when tackling bigger things!

  4. Switch up your scenery

    • If you work from home most of the time like me, you may need to switch up your environment! I find that when I am really feeling worn down, it helps to take my laptop outside for awhile, or go to a coffee shop. Or do a group work day with other work from home friends!

  5. Get your blood moving

    • Whether you’re a hard core gym junkie or someone who avoids exercise at all cost, there is a lot of science behind the benefit to getting your blood moving. It can be as little as going for a short walk outside, walking up and down a set of stairs a few times, or going to the gym for a full workout. Whatever it is, it is God’s way of offering a free option to a boost of endorphins, better sleep, and more motivation in our day.

See, all it takes is a little bit of self-love and rest to get back to the kick-a**you that you know you are!! Did I miss a tip that you've been loving lately? Share it with us in the comments!
